SOE Cobra Riggers Belt

My Top Holiday Gift Picks

Today I’m going to pick my top picks for Christmas gifts. This will not be the average survival holiday list. The Scope of Survivalpunk is too big to be contained in a single subject. So for the list follow the great advise of the legendary Bruce Lee:

“Use only that which works, and take it from any place you can find it.”

I’m sure you will find at least a few things on the list worth getting. Now lets get down to the goodies!

First off this will not be a numbered top list. They will be in the order I think of them but will try to order them into categories so you can pick what you want from the categories you like.

Survival Gear

For the most part I am only going to include items that I have used and tested. I can think of a few exceptions that will make the list based on opinions I trust and are items I plan on picking up.

Buck Hoodlum

I reviewed this knife Here. Hands down this knife is awesome. I’m a fan of the big knife for survival and this one combines all the properties I like in a light weight package.

Leatherman Wave

This is the most useful tool I own. If I was stuck with only this one tool I would be OK. It was reviewed here.

RIBZ Front Pack

This is the ultimate in get home bag and as an E&E component to a Bug Out Bag. I reviewd it during the contest here. Also if its still working you can use the discount code “survivalpunk” to claim your $20 bucks off. I ordered one myself so expect a updated GHB article soon.

Original SOE Cobra Riggers Belt

I really need to get the review out for this amazing piece of gear. My buddy John Willis sent this out to me a while ago and I don’t know how I would survive without it. It adds good rigidity for when I concealed carry. It is not hard to put on, Yes you have to take the fucking male end off and weave it through. I’ve never found this to be an issue. I like how you can really get a good tight fit pulling back on the Velcro. The quick release cobra buckle has been rather handy as well. This one is in the Survivalpunk colors and beautiful. If you order one tell him James from SP sent ya!

Mora Knives

These are cheap and awesome. Nuff said.

Guns

Frog Lube CLP

Frog Lube
Frog Lube

This is the only gun cleaner I will use from now on. Last time I took out my AR15 after not having cleaned it in a while I saw the Frog Lube coming out the metal pores when the bolt got hot. The bolt actually became more wet as I shot. I reviewed it Here.

CAT M4

CAT M4

This little tool is a miracle worker for speeding up cleaning your M4 rifle. Reviewed here.

Crossbreed Super Tuck Holster

This is what i use for my edc carry holster for my Glock 19. It conceals like you wouldn’t believe even in fitted shirts. It’s the most comfortable IWB holster I’ve used.

Comp Tac Holsters

Comp-Tac Holster Up

These guys donated a beautiful red paddle style holster for my September contest. Giving that thing away was very hard. I’ll be ordering one to keep soon.

The Home Schooled Shootist: Training to Fight with a Carbine

This book by Joe Nobody was sent to me by the great folks over at PrepperPress to review and sadly I’m a slow reader. What I have read though is pretty amazing. Highly recommend it.

Snap Caps

I like these for dry firing practice at home and for malfunction drill on the range. I wrote about them in my Dry Firing Drills article.

Gun Training With The Non-aggression Principle, Vol 1

This DVD by my friend Michael W Dean and teacher Jarad Waltz is amazing. Jarad is a great teacher and shows you how to become a better shooter. I reviewed this DVD Here.

Other

Some of my odd picks are here.

Four Hour Chef

I’ve talked about this book a lot recently and for good reason. Check out my review here then grab a copy.

The Paleo Solution

This is the book that began me on my paleo journey. Robb has a great sense of humor and backs it up with great scientific data.

I think that’s enough to get you going. I could probably keep this list going forever. Those are my top ones though. They all carry the highest stamp of approval from Survivalpunk. Hopefully some of the items on the list clicked with you.

What would you add to the list? Don’t agree with something on the list? Let me know in the comments!

  1. You suck. And its funny how our minds run in similar tracks. I’m fighting WordPress (my blogging software) right now trying to get today’s post out…about Mora knives for Christmas 😛

BTW, don’t upgrade to WordPress 3.5 yet! Buggy!

  2. Question regarding the SOE Cobra Riggers Belt…Do you:

    A. Thread the free end through the buckle one time adjusting to a proper fit then use the quick release buckle to put it on and take it off?

    Or

    B. You have to tediously thread the free end through the buckle each and every time to put it on and take it off?

    1. When you put it on you have to keep the buckles connected and undo the velcro and weave it through. When you want to drop your pants you just need to use the quick release.

Here is a link to a pretty lady putting on a belt.
