Join me today as I discuss ways of stopping blood loss. When it comes to building my first aid kits, my philosophy has always been to prioritize stopping blood loss. If we can stop blood loss from whatever happened, you have a much higher chance of survival.

I talk in this episode about the ways I have of stopping bleeding. The bulk of your first aid kits and preps need to be run-of-the-mill band-aids and gauze padding. You’ll need a lot of gauze.

I will have links to buy gauze by the case but I have other options to get them. Keep a lookout for estate sales near you. They will often have medical supplies from treating patients in their home for sale. In the past, I got an entire box of gauze in this manner.

The next step in stopping blood loss is in closing a wound. Which is harder and often requires training. Taking a class on suturing is a great prep to learn. One that could one day save someone’s life. If you don’t see a class offered near you orginize one. It’s not hard to entice someone to teach a suturing class.
