Bah humbug!Five days into the month of Christmas and I’m already tired of Christmas music. Not that I hate all of it, I just don’t want to hear music on one subject constantly for a month. A guy at my work suggested I put a little more punk in the Survivalpunk and do an article on Christmas Punk music. After thinking about it I only knew one of the top of my head. I dug around to flesh out the list and this is what I’ve come up with. If traditional Christmas tunes are driving you mad as well give this list a try.
#10
The Pogues Fairy Tail of New York
My favorite sub genre of Punk music is by far Irish Punk. I’ve heard this song before but somehow forgot about it until doing this post.
#9
TVTV$ – Daddy Drank Our Xmas Money
This one is hilarious. Sad but hilarious. I’m sure for some this song might hit home.
#8
Peter and the test tube babies- I’m getting pissed for Christmas
Another song about getting drunk for the holidays. Punks do love the booze after all. This one is a bit more lighthearted and fun. I love the line “There’s not future so mine as well have a beer” My version would be I’ve prepped all I can now I’ll have a beer.
#7
Bad Religion – Joy to the world
One of my criteria for this list was no covers. I only wanted original tunes. When I saw that Bad Religion one of my favorite bands had one I had to listen regardless. After listening though I can see it is very loose a cover. It is to the tune but they take a unique take on the subject. They loose points for being a cover but still get on the list.
#6
Super Deluxe-All i Wanted Was a Skateboard for Christmas
This song is goofy and the video to it is hilarious. Fighting Santa’s and badly skateboarding make it great.
#5
Fall Out Boy – Yule Shoot Your Eye Out
I enjoy some of Fall Out Boy even though they tend to be a bit more pop than I like. I like the nod to the greatest Christmas movie ever though with the yule shoot your eye out title.
#4
MxPx – Christmas Night of Zombies
This song has a lot going for it. A Christmas song by a good punk band with Zombies! I honestly struggled to keep this from being #1 on the list. The top three though were hard to beat out.
#3
Rancid – Xmas Eve (She Got Up And Left Me)
I was fucking ecstatic to find that Rancid had a Christmas song. I am a huge fan of Rancid and can see this song becoming one I listen to regularly regardless of the season.
#2
Ramones – Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want To Fight Tonight)
It really did surprise me to find a Rammones christmas song. As the orgianal and american kings og punk they left a massive legacy of work. This song could easily be rotated into a non-punk rotation without anyone bating an eye. It’s a solid song and showcases the Ramones distinct style.
#1
The Vandals – Oi! To The World
The Vandals of course won the title of #1 on this list. This has been not only a favorite christmas song but a favorite song period. I came across this song a few years ago and have listened to it regularly since. It has a high energy characteristic to the Vandals. It even ends with a positive note. Weather Christmas time or not give this song a listen.
That’s my top ten list of Punk Christmas songs. I found a few more good ones while writing this post and will get around to making a playlist on Pandora to share. I also have a bonus. It’s not punk in fact I’m not sure what it is besides creepy. The song is about Krampus the evil Santa from German folk lore. I always love sharing this creepy ass video with friends and family during the holidays. Krampus Christmas is the song. Watch at your own risk.
Enjoy the new songs to listen to during the holidays to break the monotony of the same old songs you hear year after year. What are your favorites? Let me know in the comments.

There is a rockabilly band in St Louis called the 7Shot Screamers, they have a song, ‘don’t be a bitch(or you won’t get stuff for Christmas). Also their front man, Mike, has an alter ego of Clownvis Presley, and he released a Christmas record a couple years ago. Videos might be up on YouTube, and some songs are available for DL if you google them.
Take care!
I think this compliments your list nicely…
