Defining A SHTF | episode 270

In our latest podcast episode, we tackle a crucial topic for preppers and anyone who wants to be prepared: defining what a SHTF (Shit Hit The Fan) event actually means. We delve into what constitutes a true crisis and discuss why it’s essential to recognize different types of emergencies. Furthermore we also address the growing trend of people on the internet downplaying others’ situations and why it’s important not to dismiss someone’s experience of a crisis.

What is a SHTF Event?

A SHTF event is essentially any situation where normal life is disrupted in a significant way, causing widespread chaos, danger, or uncertainty. Specifically, this could range from natural disasters, economic collapse, and power grid failures to civil unrest or a global pandemic.  Another key aspect of a SHTF scenario is that it pushes society or individuals beyond their normal coping mechanisms, leading to a breakdown in regular systems. To summarize in this episode, we explore what these events look like, how they affect people, and why preparation is crucial to surviving them.

Everyone’s Crisis is Different

One of the issues we address is the tendency for people on the internet to tell others that their situation “isn’t a real crisis.” Whether someone is dealing with a localized natural disaster or facing a personal financial collapse, it’s not up to others to decide whether it counts as a SHTF event. Minimizing someone else’s experience can discourage them from preparing for future challenges, which can be dangerous.  In addition, we emphasize that preparation is personal and different for everyone.

Why Understanding SHTF is Important

Recognizing what qualifies as a SHTF event helps people prepare effectively. Moreover in our podcast, we talk about how to assess risks, understand your local vulnerabilities, and build plans for different levels of emergencies. Understanding that not all crises are global or catastrophic, but still disruptive, can help in making practical, real-world decisions about prepping.

Finally tune in to this episode to better understand what a SHTF event is, why it matters, and how to stay prepared no matter what life throws your way.

Thoughts On What A Collapse Might Look Like | episode 143

This week Mike returns and we talk about what a collapse might look like.

Neither of us sees zombie apocalypse happening. And a real collapse is much scarier in many ways.

Many preppers think that a collapse will mean that the government will close doors and go away.

This is as far from the truth as possible. The government in its death throws will become a totalitarian one.

They will use all of its might and power against We The People.

They might very well pull out of the most rural areas. While holding the cities in its grip.

In the type of collapse we talk about in this episode there are two ways to live.

You either work the system or don’t get caught breaking the laws.

Outright rebellion will meet the full force of the united state’s Military.

We go over some strategies for both on how to survive. And most likely you will have to do a little of both to make it by.

We make it known that we have no tolerance for lone wolf dirtbags. The ones who say they plan to murder their neighbors and steal from them. They are not preppers and are the worst scum.

Group Prepping Vs Solo Prepping | episode 140

Do you plan to go it solo for a disaster or go it in a group? Group Prepping vs Solo prepping is the topic this week.

In this episode, we weigh the pro and cons on Group Prepping Vs Solo Prepping. Which is better for your situation.

We talk about what you have to do if you want to successfully go it alone in your prepping.

In solo prepping during the SHTF you now have to do it all yourself.

You need to be doctor, farmer, and soldier.

If you are injured nothing gets done.

You also don’t have to worry about who to trust.  How to divide supplies or what to punish.

With a group, you can have trained people fill the roles they are accustomed to.

Your Where there’s no doctor book can not compete with the experience of a real doctor.

Ghost Run

This Ghost Run review almost didn’t happen. Or at least this soon. I have a love hate relationship with my spam filter. Yes it saves me from weeny pills but it catches important things too. In the case being emailed by a major publisher about the newest release of my favorite zombie series it was wrong.

Ghost Run takes part in a ravaged Southern U.S dominated by hordes of Undead. While on a supplies run the main character picks up a distress call. The possibility of a cure makes him abandon returning to safety. With no turning back he leads a one-man rescue mission. Success means hope for all of humanity. Failure means the eventual end for all and joining the ranks of the undead.
