To end my paleo recipe week I’m going with the king of all pumpkin recipes. Pumpkin pie. Not only is pumpkin pie my favorite pumpkin dish it’s hands down my favorite pie. Every year I I look forward Thanksgiving for a slice (or two) of the delicious pie. If I love it so much then why only once a year. Traditionally they are filled with all kinds of crap I don’t eat. High Fructose Corn Syrup, wheat and who knows what else. So lets paleo up the the king of pies.
Right Now I have a loaf of Paleo Pumpkin bread baking in the over. Yes you should be jealous. Its not even done and I’m already calling this a huge success. After all its a slightly pumpkin-ized version of my tried and true paleo bread recipe. Having pumpkin flavor can only make it that much better. Also I licked the spoon. It was yummy. Let me show you how I made paleo pumpkin bread and by the end it will be done and I can taste (devour) a slice.
The namesake of this dish is either beloved or hated by many. I’ve also seen different versions of “shit on a shingle” or creamed beef on toast. Sometimes its thin kinda hamburger patty or chipped beef. I’m a big fan of chipped or thin sliced dried beef. It’s salty and has a pretty long shelf life. So my recipe is for the chipped beef version and it’s delicious.
It’s fall and to me that means pumpkin everything! I have a few paleo pumpkin recipes for you this month. Today is my second attempt at this dish. Going paleo does not mean giving up soups. As the weather gets cooler I start turning to the comfort of a hot bowl of soup. Today I’m going to successfully combine the two to make pumpkin soup. I’m happy I decided to give this dish another try. Let me show you one more pumpkin dish you need to enjoy.
A few months back my buddy DB over at Florida Hillbilly did an article on making homemade Lara Bars. Like me hes big into DIY and being cheap. His bars looked super simple to make and delicious. Today I basically followed his template but kicked it up a notch with my favorite pie flavor and one Lara Bars sadly does not make. Pumpkin Pie, the king of pies, in my humble opinion.
