Benefits of a Cheat Day

Today I’m going to talk about Cheat Day. What is cheat day? One day out of the week I break my strict paleo diet and go hog-wild. In the past I’ve always eventually broke the diet and then getting back on from an unplanned diet is hard. The guilt associated with breaking from the diet is terrible too. So now I plan for it. There are some very good reasons why you should too. I’ll also tell you how taking breaks from most things brings you back with a stronger passion.

Worksharp Knife and Tool Sharpener Review

After a week or so of testing I’m going to review my work Sharp tool and knife Sharpener (WSKTS).

When you get a Work sharp it comes with the WSKTS,instruction manual, DVD, guides and two sets of abrasive belts. It comes with a guide for kitchen knives and one that does most other knives, scissors and the back of a serrated knife. There is no guide for sharpening a scandi grind blade however. Scandi’s are the easiest to sharpen though. And I’ll be experimenting on sharpening a mora on the WSKTS without a guide to see if it can be done.

3 Ingredients to Homemade Laundry Detergent

Hello again!

How many of you do laundry?  How many of you pinch pennies?  How many of you want to combine those two pastimes into one brilliant idea?!  Homemade Laundry Detergent!  Yes!

I cannot remember the last time I bought detergent, but it wasn’t cheap.  Long ago I went on a mission to figure out what I could make myself to save us money, and this was at the top of my list.  Two boxes of powder and a bar of soap later, I had a slimy, goopy mess.  But boy does it clean!

Make a disposible razor last six months!

Photo Copyright ©2012 Jeffrey Beall

Just a quick link today to a guy that has saved me tons of money. About a year ago I heard about a guy making his shaving razors last SIX MONTHS! At the price replacements are selling for I figured I’d give it a shot.

The basic premise is to take an old pair of blue jeans and run the blade along it 20 times up and 20 times down. This essential hones the blade before every shave. Also you want to try to dry the razor off as much as possible after each shave to prevent rusting.

Here’s the link to the Instructable with a video. Check it out and enjoy the savings.

Gerber EAB pocket knife

Today I’m going to do a review of the Gerber EAB pocket knife. It’s constructed of stainless steel. Weighs in at 2.2 oz and uses regular contractor blades. The closed length is 2.4 in and open is 4.1.  The EAB is  liner lock knife.

I picked up the EAB about a year ago when it was on clearance out at a local Walmart. I had heard good reviews on it and at the $10 bucks I spent on it I figured I could not go wrong. Basically it is a very tiny utility knife. By far the smallest and lightest I have seen. I was not disappointed by this purchase at all.
