I was saddened to hear news yesterday of the passing of Firearms instructor Paul Gomez. Paul was born August 19th 1971 in Baton Rouge. LA. Paul was a solider for thirteen years and a police officer in Baton Rogue for three. Paul has been teaching students like myself for seventeen years. I unfortunately only had the opportunity to met him once.
Keystone Canned Meats
Today I’ll be reviewing Keystone canned beef and canned chicken. Being the carnivore I am, I must have meat and I’m always on the look out for long term storage meat. Most freeze dried options tend to be pretty pricey. Home canning is a viable option but very labor intensive. So for me my favorite choose is store bought canned meats. The selection isn’t very good though, really you have tuna fish and canned chicken. I can’t tell you how happy I was to see that the Keystone brand canned beef and chicken were being carried in a local Walmart
Getting Started!
last night I had a friend ask me how to get started. I’m sure it was mostly in jest due to the odd amount of Zombie like stories in the news recently. But I figured I would do a How to get started on the path to self reliance. The things I am going to tell you will only be things that will be steps that will benefit you regardless of whether the Zombie apocalypse happens or not. Take the red pill and follow me down the rabbit hole.
Building Community
Today I’m going to talk about the importance of building a community. The process I went through to build my community and some of the benefits you can get some building an amazing community. I’ll share my pitfalls with you so you avoid making the same mistakes.
Para Cord Sandal
So I had been thinking about alternatives to commercially manufactured foot ware for a while. Something easy and made from either stuff lying around or an abundant resource. I’m still kicking around the idea of a tire shoe/ sandal. Inspiration struck when I was watching a Japanese show (anime) called Bleach. The main character wore a pair or sandals that looked like they were made from woven rope. I researched it and indeed they are real. They are known as Waraji 草鞋 and are made from straw rope and were the traditional footwear for the common people of Japan as well as the samurai and foot soldiers. So I was thinking if it’s woven rope I’ll try to make a waraji from paracord. Let me show you how.
