Frog Lube CLP

I became interested in Frog Lube CLP after watching some Youtube videos showing off what it could do. After a day of researching I was pretty impressed. The great folks at Survivalgearbags.com sent me their Frog Lube Kit to test and Im very impressed. Let me share my impressions of it and show you how I cleaned my Glock 19 with it.

I was impressed with watching videos on how it performed as well as asking on the SurvivalPunk Facebook  page what people thought of it.  I really like that it is not petroleum based. Frog Lube is food grade substance. It’s safe and non toxic. Also it smells minty fresh. Which I really like. Normally after cleaning all my weapons my apartment stinks for the rest of the day. As well as my hands. After scrubbing my AR15 and my Glock 19 there are no smells at all.

I also like only having to have one product. No having to switch back and forth from one product to the next and not mixing the two.  In my opinion it allows a very minimal cleaning kit. No need to have a giant tool box or cleaning products. I cleaned my AR with one tooth brush, a bore snake, a micro fiber cloth and the Frog Lube paste.

Over vacation I put a few hundred rounds through my new Glock and decided to use the Frog lube on it and see how good it cleaned up. This is the first time cleaning this gun since Ive got it but I know it had a good cleaning before I bought it. So following the Frog Lube directions first I cleaned off the old lubricant using denatured alcohol.

I used some patch clothes and the denatured alcohol and cleaned the entire gun. I used patch cloth and not the Frog Lube cloth to keep from putting it right back on.

After I had all the previous lube off I used my heat gun to warm up the metal. According to The directions this is like seasoning cast iron. The Frog Lube soaks into the metal pores better if the metal is warm. I’ve heard that heating Frog lube in a crock pot and soaking parts works well. I think that would be a great idea for maximum lubrication.

Once the metal is warm to the touch I dipped the tooth brush bristles in the paste and started scrubbing the barrel. Unlike cleaning the bolt on the AR which was filthy the Glock was still pretty clean. I wiped it clean then added just a bit more for good lubrication. I followed this procedure for the slide and the cleaned the entire gun once reassembled.

There you now have a minty clean weapon. I didn’t even have to wash all the excess from my hands. I whipped them off and had no lingering greasy feeling. I am completely sold on Frog lube. It was the best cleaning experience ever. I enjoy and compact nature of this kit. I’m adding the squeeze tube to my range bag. I will never use a traditional  cleaner/ lubricant again.
