Today we welcome Will Mayor onto the show. Will is a Navy Vet who has formed a survival school. Will is currently focused on tracking.

Will is the head instructor at the Z.E.R.E Survival School in Ohio. Z.E.R.E. stands for Zombie Evasion Resistance Elimination. Will say’s it like this

” As a Veteran, I see people take an awful lot of chances with their personal safety on a daily basis”. It is our most sincere wish to be able to teach people basic modern survival skills, how to defend themselves, their homes and loved ones. While the world turns into a scarier place everyday, we would like to teach this serious skill set through the much loved concept of the zombie apocalypse.

We dig into how to begin learning tracking. Tips for those new to the practice and things often overlooked. We also discuss Obstacle course races and their benefit to survival. All this and more.

  1. Like the show, enjoyed the episode. But you guys need to get more skookum on hunting before you comment. Maybe you do know a guy with a $5000 rifle with a laser, but that is by far the minority.

I hunt, I am primarily a tracker actually. Up here in the Great North Woods, you freeze in a tree stand a lot of the time. But not always, and if you’d do a little research you’d know that unless you are paying top dollar for an illinois bowhunt, tree stand hunting is way way harder than you think. You must track, age, and interpret sign to find a good stand location.

And then you must know learn which way and when the deer will travel and which way the wind must be to not bust you. You must have multiple locations, scouted well in advance, and use each only in the proper conditions.

Thats just a start. As for guns, I invite you to join us in Northern Maine. Bring a bow. You will not shoot a deer with a bow from the ground. If you can, you need to be making movies and money from endorsements. But you won’t and neither will Will Mayor. You need a gun.

In a place filled with nuisance varmint deer, hey whatever, but in real woods, with real deer and not very many of them, good hunters can go years without killing a deer. In crunchy leaves, you will not ever kill a deer on the ground with a bow. Doesn’t happen. Or crunchy snow.

Just think a little before you shit on other people and you really don’t know what they do. There are lots of lazy hunters out there, true. But its never as easy as just killing as you said on the show. Maybe if you pay top dollar to a fence.

All that said, tracking deer is the way to go. The most fun you can have with your clothes on. Mike would die in short order tracking. Sorry Mike. Look up Larry Benoit and the Benoit family from VT. They are the real deal. They make it look easy, but trust me its not. Try it though, its fun as hell. And when you find yourself 10 miles from the truck, you’ll test your skills.

    Keep it up.
