Did todays title scare you off? I hope not it’s going to be a fun review of Coconu personal lubricant with interesting findings. I came across Coconu on Twitter one day. They were looking for blog testers to review their product. I never turn down a chance to review something, and I thought I had a unique idea for it.So I contacted Coconu about testing it out. They were very excited to see how a survival blog was going to review sex lube. If you are too stick around and find out.
Coconu Personal Lubricant
Here are the bullet points for Coconu.

- Works to automatically stimulate your body’s natural lubrication.

- Works with polyurethane condoms, but not compatible with latex.
The ingredients are as follows.

- Coconut Oil.
- Beeswax.
- Shea Butter.
- Cocoa Seed Butter.

- Canola Oil.
- Kukui Seed Oil.
- Sea Buckthorn Oil.
- Tocopherol.
I thought it would be just coconut oil in Coconu but it has a great collection of oils in it. With the exception of Canola oil which I usually don’t want any part of. With Coconu though it is at least organic and not GMO.
Survival Uses
Coconu thoroughly tested the product for it’s advertised uses as sex lube. Their site has testimonial from some very happy folks on that use. While I normally test products extensively I have not ran it through that test yet. Stay tuned loyal Survivalpunk fans. I did test a few features I feel could be used in a survival situation. I’ll break them down to three main categories, Fire, Skin Care and Food.
Fire
When ordering Coconu there are two options to order. Coconut oil based and Coconut Water based. For the maximum survival use I chose the oil based version. My thought was to see if I could use it as a fire starter. In the past I’ve made coconut oil fire starters and they worked out great. So I decided to do a head to head comparison of Coconu against coconut oil fire starters. Since I’m a closet pyromaniac I recorded it and uploaded it to YouTube.
In the video Mike and I burn cotton face pads with Coconu, coconut oil and one with nothing. The one with nothing burns very fast as expected. The Coconu and Coconut oil is a closer race but the Coconu still bows the coconut oil out the water. The official burn time to Coconu is 9:56 out lasting the oil by about a minute. I can not stress enough how great an asset it is to have a fire starter burn for 10 minutes. If you need to get a fire going, especially in bad conditions, that ten minutes could be the difference between getting it going or not.
Skin Care
Coconut oil as been used for skin care often been used as skin moisturizer. During a disaster that last thing you want is cry cracked hands. Your hands are a vital body part for survival and maintaining dexterity means increasing your survival odds. Not to mention comfortably. I only use hand lotion during winter to prevent cracks and bleeding, which could lead to a whole other set of problems. Coconu unlike most others does not have a greasy feel not any sissy smells. I’m a man and don’t want my hands smelling like roses. Coconu will also excel as a lip balm that won’t melt in a pool in your car. It will do those better than the chemical laden junk out there.
Food
Coconu says it’s 100% edible. Well I had to put that to the test as well. I can see why they would want to make a lube non toxic in case any got in a mouth. The fact that they went edible though give Coconu a new usability factor. As survival food in an emergency. You won’t be eating KY Jelly in a disaster but you could eat Coconu.
I ate some for testing and it taste like sunflower butter to me. So taste wise it’s good to go as a food source. Nutritionally it’s all oils, so fats, with minimal amounts of other macro nutrient content. I’ve said in the past that I feel fats should be a primary fuel source in a disaster. Without nutritional facts I can’t really calculate the numbers accurately. Coconut oil has 117 calories per tbsp and there are 6.30 in the 3 oz of Coconu which is 737 calories in a tube.
Final Thoughts
While I’m not saying this is an ultimate survival resource If you are planing on buying personal lubricant why not get one that could save your life. Besides my coconut oil fire starters I’ve not seen any that are edible. 1 is none and 2 is one. Why not stack functions in your survival gear whenever possible. So pick up some Coconu and have some fun. Literally. This is James saying DIY 2 Survive friends.

Lew I’m still waiting on test subjects for further testing. lol
What are you waiting for, this is a DIY site isn’t it???
Im sure the day I do a how to make a fifi on this blog it finally dies lol
After examining the ingredients to the Coconu, a good guess is it was the beeswax that gave the superior burn time. John McCann of “Build the Perfect Surival Kit” fame, says beeswax has proved far superior to paraffin for making fire starters.
Anyway, its good to know the multiuse aspects of sexual equipment, etc! How many ways can you start fire with a vibrator? One way is obvious.
Maybe I’ll do that one for April Fools Day. Vibrators for Survival!
Usually, I like having photos to go along with your blogs…..but please, please, we can do fine with just your written words when you put Coconu to the test for its original purpose…..but I know I am looking forward to your next report on Coconu….lol….what the hell, throw in some photos………..
Thanks!
