I just finished the second book in the 299 Days series and have already moved onto the third. For those that don’t know 299 Days is an epic book series written by Glen Tate about a collapse of the United States. Glen and the character Grant in the book both have an inside track into government corruption and wrong doings. The first book was back-story on Grant and his realization that things could and would go wrong. With his knowledge of a probable collapse he takes steps to ensure that his family is taken care of by becoming a survivalist in secret. Things are starting to break down at the end of the first book. The second is where the shit really starts hitting the fan and where this review will pick up for 299 days: The Collapse.

Libby’s Seasoned Beef Crumbles
Whenever I out buying groceries I stop by the canned meat aisle and see whats new and interesting. This week I found a lot of new things in my preferred foil packaging. They were all made by the Libby’s company, today I’ll review the Seasoned Beef Crumbles. I couldn’t find a good source online to buy this so check your local stores, I picked them up for about $2.50. I was worried that this would have a huge ingredient list of fake things. I was not interested in beef flavored TVP or unpronounceable chemicals in my food even emergency food. The listed ingredients are: Beef, Water, Contains 2% or less of: Salt, Beef Extract, Caramel Color. Let’s heat this thing up and dig in!
299 Days: The Preparation Review
I just finished reading the first book, The Preparation, in the 299 Days series and couldn’t wait to review it. For those that somehow have not heard about this amazing new prepper book series I’ll give you a brief synopsis. The story planned to be a massive ten book series chronicling the collapse of the United states. The author Glen Tate uses his inside the government knowledge to set up a realistic collapse situation that is more like a limited and partial collapse.
Recoil Magazine
I had known about the firearms magazine Recoil many months ago and the issues they had with pissing off the entire firearms community with some anti 2nd amendment comments. I had not read it so didn’t really have a say in the whole thing. The other day I was grabbing a drink from a gas station and noticed they had the newest issue there. The cover looked great so I decided to pick it up and give it a read. The issue is number #6 and has some editorial changes to fix the issues with the anti 2nd amendment comments. I can’t speak for the previous issues or editorial staff but I’m enjoying this issue and will be talking about it today.
Spyderco Tenacious For EDC
I felt that it was time to finally replace the previously reviewed and loved Kershaw Skyline. The Blade profile was getting bad from early bad attempts at sharpening it. I had accidentally introduced a funky re-curve line in it. Secondly I felt like I wanted a blade that would be a bit bigger and be better suited for self defense. I had mainly narrowed my search down the the Spyderco line of knives. I finally made a decision, with the Spyderco Tenacious, and a purchase and have been testing it for the past week or so. I may revisit this knife after I really put the Tenacious through it’s paces.
