Coffee Can Hobo Stove

Stoves and cooking are two things I love. Maybe I’m just a pyromaniac foodie at heart. After several alcohol stoves, esbit stoves and my Jetboil with modifications, I decided it was time to make a wood burning hobo stove. I had a empty coffee can saved up just for this project and decided it was finally time. Enough jiba jabba lets get to building!

Making a Jetboil More Useful

This is my second attempt at this article. WordPress ate the first one! I usually spend a great deal of time and research before buying anything. When I brought my Jetboil PCS it was not exception. I watched every Youtube video on it and read lots of reviews. At the time I ignored the review that said it was only good for boiling water. Which ended up being proven. Today I’m going to show you a cheap DIY fix to make it more useful.

Super Easy Hard Cider

I hate that I had to distinguish in this posts title that this was “Hard” cider.  Cider by it’s definition is “hard”, meaning it traditionally cider is a fermented apple juice drink. Here is the Etymology of the word.

cider (n.)Look up cider at Dictionary.com
late 13c., from O.Fr. cidre, cire (12c., Mod.Fr. cidre), variant of cisdre, from L.L. sicera, Vulgate rendition of Heb. shekhar, word used for any strong drink (translated in Old English as beor). Meaning gradually narrowed in English to mean exclusively “fermented drink made from apples,” though this sense also was in Old French.

Only in America and Parts of Canada does it mean an unfiltered non-alcoholic version. Basically the difference here in the US between Apple Juice and Apple Cider is that cider is unfiltered, sometimes un-pasteurized, making the drink a darker brownish color. To me cider tends to be a bit sweeter and less tangy and crisp than apple juice.  Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way when I refer to Cider I mean a fermented drink and juice is un-fermented. Now lets get onto how you can make this tasty drink at home and easy.

DIY Headlamp

Sometimes I try my crazy ideas and they sort of work. Today I have a project for you that is super easy and works perfectly. I got this idea from watching a Nutnfancy video on YouTube. He was wearing a headlamp band from Fenix that hold a flashlight. I thought what a great idea. Instead of using a separate headlamp (which I own a few of) you could use you nice EDC flashlight. I have a Streamlight that gives off 190 lumens, way brighter than any of my headlamps and with more features. The Fenix one looks nice with plastic and adjustments, it also looks heavy. I decided to make one that way simple and light

The Best Investment I’ve Made: Silver

Before I got into the prepper/ Survival movement my savings and investments were scarce to say the least. I was easily one of the “sheeple” With no savings account at all, nothing contributed into 401(K) or any retirement plans. I, like many lived from paycheck to paycheck and was utterly screwed if an emergency came up. Since then I’ve gotten smart. I have contributed to a retirement plan. Although I’ve hated it for now to invest stronger in another area. I have a emergency fund with almost 2 grand in it. I have some money in stocks that I keep an eye on to sale quickly if needed. I keep some money in cash stashed in various locations in various denominations. This is somewhat depleted at the moment and I’m going to focus on building it. My favorite investment though and the one that has proven the most profitable has been Silver.
