Fuels To Store For Survival | episode 161

This week I talk about fuels to store for survival.  With the terrible hurricane and floods in Texas gas has gone up in price and shortages are occurring.

The reasons to store fuel are many. Two of my favorite are saving time and money.

Before Hurricane Harvey gas here was $1.90. A very affordable price after the heights we saw a few years back.

A week later and prices are close to $3. If you had stored gas before the disaster you would have saved a good bit of money.

That’s only one type of fuel I talk about in today’s episode.

Survival Without A Cellphone | episode 160

This week Mike and talk about survival without a cell phone. What do you do when your phone breaks or no longer works?

We’ve all come to rely on smartphones for so many tasks that we often never carry backups.

Most of us no longer remember phone numbers. Maps are rarely carried.

Today we talk about why you should have redundancies and which ones to have.

This week Mike and I talk all about Why Choose Perennials For Survival?

Perennials are an extension to your prepper pantry.  One that keeps on giving.

In case you didn’t know a Perennial is a plant that returns year after year. Unlike annual crops that die at the end of the season.

Unlike annuals that usually produce in summer, perenniuals have a staggered harvest.

Perennials aren’t even as picky as annuals. They can be planted in places you could not grow tomatoes and cucumbers.

Lessons Learned From The Venezuela Crisis

This week we talk about lessons Learned From The Venezuela Crisis.

When I heard about the turmoil going on in Venezuela I had to look further into it. For many of the citizens there, it is an actual case of the shit hitting the fan with the Venezuela crisis.

Furthermore, after years of socialism, the country is collapsing.  Due to the Venezuela crisis, they are facing inflation and shortages.

On many staples of their diet, they can’t buy even at the inflated prices. To fix this the government has tried to enforce price controls. Which creates the shortages and a black market.

So people are resorting to eating out of trash bags for food. And waiting all day in lines for bread.

They have the highest murder rate in Latin America. This is partly due to their citizens being disarmed.

And like any failing Government, they think more legislature will fix the problem.

Hardly brought up in the podcast is the arrest of opponents to the government. The deaths of protestors in recent weeks.

Finally, all this adds up to a country whose socialist rule is bringing a SHTF.

This week I talk all about survival lighting.  Everything from candles to super bright rechargeable LED headlamps.

You need a method of lighting your surroundings on a daily basis. This becomes more important in a disaster. Illumination during a collapse becomes a matter of life or death.
