To help out with my hectic demand of the five day a week pace I’ve brought on a great friend of mine. Welcome Shannon to Survival Punk. I’ve known Shannon for almost ten years now. She is an experienced gardener and crafter. She is right in-line with the DIY and money saving nature here.
I think she will bring a much needed softer side to Survival Punk. I look forward to Shannon’s how to articles and how to garden better.

Modern Hunter Gatherers
I heard this term on a podcast this week. Modern Hunter Gatherer nomad. It struck a chord when I heard it and to be honest I didn’t hear much more. My mind was too busy pondering this term. It reminded me of the summer of being homeless. Moving from place to place and eating when there was food. Living off the resources of the “modern” landscape.
Level 1 First Aid Kit
Today I’m going to go over the contents of my Level 1 First Aid kit and why I carry what i do. the philosophy behind this kit is one based on being small and light weight and covering most day-to-day needs. This kit is not meant to be a blow out kit nor to be able to handle traumatic injuries. What is does cover are some of the things that I have had happen most often with a little extras for emergencies.
Making Your Own Camping Meals
Making Your Own Camping Meals? Because isn’t it sure nice to sit down and eat a nice hot meal after a long hike and setting up camp. I know I enjoy it, but you know what I don’t like? The price for one. Mountain House meals easily fall into the seven dollar per package range. The price of some good meal’s at restaurants. Which wouldn’t be too bad for a gourmet meal. But is not a gourmet meal, its slop. The food is full if terrible ingredients, fillers, gmo/ roundup sprayed, poor quality food and food that I would prefer not to eat.
I like to try my best to eating a Paleo diet. No grains, dairy or legumes. Unfortunately those ingredients make up the basis for most freeze-dried camping foods. Along with ingredients I can’t even pronounce.
I would love to have the opportunity to buy an organic paleo freeze-dried meals for camping. Until Paleo Meals to Go there were no options for that. I’m going to go over some options that are available store-bought.I’ll show you how to make your own high quality paleo camping meals. Learn how to start making your own camping meals at home for much cheaper and eliminate the extra junk you don’t need.
Kershaw Skyline Review
Up for to is a review of my Kershaw Skyline. The knife features Sandvik 14C28N steel with a bead-blasted finish. The blade length comes in at 3 1/8 in. The weight is 2.3 oz so it’s nice and light. The handle scales are a textured black G10. It features a liner lock , thumb stud, flipper and pocket clip. Which I will discuss in depth. And the icing on the cake is that is Made in the US.
